Scotland Tour: Anstruther, East Neuk

Situated between Edinburgh and St. Andrews on the east coast of Scotland, East Neuk is an area of quaint, kitschy fishing villages - one of which is Anstruther (pronounced something like EN ster by the locals):


The Anstruther harbor looks out across the Firth of Forth, jutting in from the North Sea:


Jack's first taste of sea water... better stick to fresh water next time.

Well worth the trip:
Looking out the Firth of Forth one finds the Isle of May, the potential site of Britt's research into stress and telomere dynamics in a wild population of Shags - large sea birds, related to the cormorant:
Our brief taste of the East Neuk: fresh fish, steep cobblestone streets overlooking the sea, picturesque harbor, colorful shops full of knick-knacks, and a peaceful rural environs.
